Unveiling New SJT and TT Inverter Batteries: Ideal for Okaya Home & Hi-Capacity UPS

Okaya's SJT (Super Jumbo Tubular) and TT (Tall Tubular) batteries are built to run with its Home UPS and Hi-Capacity UPS ranges. Choosing the right pair comes down to the inverter's system voltage, the load you want to run and the backup hours you need. This guide explains how the batteries work with each UPS inverter range, how many batteries each model needs and how to choose between SJT and TT.

What are SJT and TT inverter batteries?

Both are tubular batteries from Okaya's inverter battery range, and both carry XBD+ technology with Certified Backup Hours.

SJT (Super Jumbo Tubular): the lower, more compact design, covering 110Ah to 160Ah. All water inlets sit on one side in a 6x1 layout, and Okaya states SJT batteries recharge about 15% faster than conventional Jumbo Tubular batteries.

TT (Tall Tubular): the taller design, covering 160Ah to 310Ah, with a vent-plug and float design for spill-free water topping.

Shared features: Okaya states XBD+ technology gives up to 15 to 20% longer backup than a conventional tubular battery of the same Ah capacity. A low-antimony alloy and six ceramic water-level indicators keep maintenance to 1 to 2 top-ups a year on most models.

How many batteries does each Okaya inverter need?

The inverter's system voltage decides the number of 12V batteries. A 12V inverter uses one battery, a 24V inverter uses two and a 48V inverter uses four. Okaya's current range covers these combinations.

Which SJT or TT battery suits a Home UPS?

Home UPS models use Advanced True Sine Wave output, the sine wave type that suits sensitive appliances such as TVs, computers and fans. Okaya's shop solution pages give these starting points:

For a 2BHK, the 925 VA Home UPS is a practical starting point for basic loads, while higher capacities such as 1150 VA or 1450 VA may be needed when mixers, refrigerators or additional appliances are included. Battery capacity can typically range from 110Ah to 160Ah depending on the load and backup required.

A mixer-grinder load: a 1150 VA model.

A refrigerator: 1150 VA or 1450 VA models with a battery of 160Ah or more.

3BHK: 1450 VA to 2000 VA models with 160Ah to 210Ah batteries for refrigerator, fans and TV.

These are starting points. Your own appliance load and the hours of backup you want should decide the final choice.

To work out your load, use the load calculator.

Which SJT or TT battery suits a Hi-Capacity UPS?

Hi-Capacity UPS models run larger loads for big homes, shops and offices. The 2500 VA and 3200 VA models use two batteries and the 4000 VA and 6100 VA models use four, so the battery bank is larger and the choice of capacity matters more. Okaya's suggested uses for its batteries include 260Ah for heavy loads and 310Ah for commercial use, both in the TT design.

A standard Home UPS is generally not recommended for running an air conditioner. For AC loads, consider the Hi-Capacity UPS range and select the model based on the AC's running wattage, startup surge and any other loads connected at the same time.

Okaya's Hi-Capacity UPS models include protection against overload, low battery, high battery, input and output short-circuit and over-temperature, with fuse or MCB trip. Active Battery Reverse Protection is available on the 6100 VA model only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which battery is best for an Okaya Home UPS?

It depends on the model and your load. For a 2BHK, the 925 VA Home UPS is a practical starting point for basic loads, with battery capacity typically ranging from 110Ah to 160Ah depending on the load and backup required. For a 3BHK home, Okaya's shop page lists 1450 VA to 2000 VA models with 160Ah to 210Ah batteries.

How many batteries does a 2000 VA Okaya inverter need?

A 2000 VA Home UPS is a 24V model and uses two 12V batteries.

How many batteries does a Hi-Capacity UPS need?

The 2500 VA and 3200 VA models are 24V and use two batteries. The 4000 VA and 6100 VA models are 48V and use four batteries.

Can a Home UPS run an air conditioner?

A standard Home UPS is generally not recommended for running an air conditioner. For AC loads, consider the Hi-Capacity UPS range and select the model based on the AC's running wattage, startup surge and any other loads connected at the same time.

What is the difference between SJT and TT batteries?

SJT is the lower design for 110Ah to 160Ah and TT is the taller design for 160Ah to 310Ah. SJT models carry 48 to 60 months of total warranty and TT models 48 to 66 months.

Do SJT and TT batteries recharge faster?

Okaya states SJT batteries recharge about 15% faster than conventional Jumbo Tubular batteries. This claim is for SJT only, and faster recharge does not by itself mean a longer battery life.

What is XBD+?

XBD+ (Xtra Backup Design Plus) is Okaya's backup design. Okaya states it gives up to 15 to 20% longer backup than a conventional tubular battery of the same Ah capacity.

How do I find the right battery and inverter set for my home?

Calculate your load, note the backup hours you want and check the inverter's system voltage. You can also use the dealer locator or contact Okaya Care on +91 9818 909090 or care@okaya.in.

To see current figures, check the UPS price and inverter for home price on the Okaya shop, or the 24 volt inverter price for the 2000 VA model. If you are searching for an inverter near me, the dealer locator lists Okaya outlets by location or PIN code.
